CoolFlex Toolholders have Multiple Coolant Paths

CoolFLEX collet chucks and end mill holders feature a coolant path that can be switched from coolant-through-spindle to DIN style coolant simply by removing two setscrews.
Now you don't have to buy machine-specific toolholders!
This feature can save thousands of dollars when compared to the cost of tooling-up both coolant- through and DIN coolant spindles.
CoolFlex holders are available for CAT40 and CAT50 spindles, in ER collet chuck and End Mill holder styles. The collet chucks are available in sizes in ER16, ER20, ER25, ER32 & ER40 and are balanced to 18,000 RPM. The end mill holder styles range from ID 1/4” to ID 1-1/4” and are balanced to 10,000 RPM.
All CoolFlex holders are factory set for the coolant-through-spindle application and can be changed to DIN style by the user. CoolFlex collet chucks come with Techniks’ “Power Coat” nut that increases clamping power on the tool shank up to 75%.

ER Collets for Maximum Flexibility

ER Collets: standard, sealed, ultra-precision,
tapping, rigid tapping, & quickchange
The Flexible ER Collet System is designed to handle a wide range of machining tasks without the expense of buying new tool holders. The machinist simply chooses the right collet for the job, sets his tool, and tightens the collet nut to the proper torque.

ER Collets are available for:

Special "DNA" Dead Nuts Accurate collets are used for small drills (6mm and smaller) to maintain T.I.R. at those sizes.

The system consists of a precision ER tool holder that comes with a special "Power Coated" high power nut that holds tighter than any other nuts.

Techniks stocks collets in precision and ultra-precision styles, in sizes from ER8, ER11, ER16, ER20, ER25, ER32 & ER40. Holders are available for CAT, HSK, BT, and ISO spindle types. Each tool holder comes with a lab certification documenting accuracy and balance test results so the buyer can be assured of top quality. All Techniks products are backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee. e-mail:

Improve Rigidity & T.I.R. with Taper AND Flange contact
DUAL-CONTACT machining means the spindle face contacts the tool holder flange for improved performance. DualDRIVE works with standard and non-standard spindles. Call for details.

Choose from a wide range of DualDRIVE
toolholders including:

  • ER Collet Chucks,
  • End Mill Holders,
  • Shrink-Fit Holders, and
  • Shell Mill Arbors
Use DualDRIVE when high material removal rates and improved surface finish are desired.

  • Improves rigidity, reduces vibration - even on standard spindles!
  • Increase feed rates up to 20%
  • Extend tool life and reduce scrap
  • CoolFLEX DIN B coolant feature

Are you installing your Collets correctly?

1. Snap collet into nut.

2. Insert cutter into collet.
Collets without counter bore require shank
to extend to the bottom of the collet.

3. Hand tighten collet nut assembly into tool holder.

4. Insert tool holder assembly into
tightening fixture and secure it.

5. Tighten collet nut to recommended torque
using a torque wrench and adapter.
Installing ER (DR, RD, ESX) , style collets is very common in every machine shop and tool & die shop, but is everyone doing it CORRECTLY?

Did you know that there is a torque specification on your collets?

Many people use a cheater bar to tighten down collets believing that the "tighter is better" but that's not always the case.  Like all toolholding collets, ER style collets are spring collets with a 30 degree front taper and a 16 degree back taper (a "free releasing 'locking-taper" just like your steep taper toolholder)

When the 16 degree taper "locks" and you continue to over-torque the collet nut, the collet can twist and, under the normal load of cutting conditions, the cutting tool will run-out.  Be sure and check out our website and see the torque chart to make sure that you are getting the most tool-life out of your end mills and cutting tools.

A toolholder set-up fixture that easily mounts
to your Huot, Lista, or Rousseau Tool Cart
We also recommend using a tightening fixture and torque wrench to make sure cutting tools and retention knobs are properly tightened.

Over-tightening can distort or even crack collets, causing runout problems and premature failure of the collet, nut, tool holder and cutting tool.

Under-tightening can also cause poor cutting performance, or allow cutting tools to fly out of the spindle – a very serious safety hazard.

Improve Tool Life Up to 5 Times on Small Diameter Drills

TechniksUSA DNA collets: 5 times tool life improvement!
DNA Collets (Dead Nuts Accurate!) from Techniks are proven to improve carbide tool life significantly.

If you are using carbide drills 6mm and smaller and getting inconsistent tool life, it is more than likely that your collet is the problem. The reason is because standard collets at these drill sizes do not provide consistent T.I.R., so wear is increased. Studies have proven that T.I.R. is a major factor in tool life for small diameter drills. Techniks created DNA Collets to fix this problem and extend the life of small diameter carbide drills.

The unique design of DNA collets provides the customer with consistent T.I.R. readings and accuracy that boost the life of carbide drills. The beauty of this system is that it is used with any standard ER 16 collet chuck.
